Tenby Primary School pupils have been taking learning beyond the classroom with a series of inspiring visits to Tenby Leisure Centre, discovering first-hand how local facilities are working to protect the environment.
During their visits, pupils had the opportunity to explore the centre through mini tours, giving them a behind-the-scenes look at the systems and efficiencies in place. From energy-saving lighting to water management, the children were fascinated to see how small changes can make a big difference.
A key part of the project involved understanding how organisations listen and respond to their community. Pupils took part in customer surveys and staff surveys, helping to identify new ways to reduce environmental impact while improving services. This real-life example showed children how everyone has a role to play in creating a more sustainable future.
The experience also encouraged thoughtful discussions back at school, with pupils sharing ideas on how similar approaches could be used in their own environment.
These visits have not only deepened pupils’ understanding of environmental responsibility, but have also sparked curiosity and enthusiasm for learning about sustainability in everyday life.
